Annexation Public Policy Forum Set for May 26

There will be a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic this Saturday, April 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fort Worth Animal Care and Control Center, located at 4900 Martin Street. Pet owners can have their dogs and cats vaccinated for rabies and get their city tags for only $4.

Residents of the City of Fort Worth and its extraterritorial jurisdiction are invited to attend a public forum convened by the Annexation Policy Advisory Committee to solicit comments on the City's draft annexation policy. This meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber of Fort Worth City Hall, 2nd Floor, 1000 Throckmorton Street.

The City has been working to update its annexation policy so as to provide more specific guidance for making annexation decisions and to promote more meaningful citizen participation during the annexation process. City staff has prepared a draft annexation policy, provided briefings to various community groups and sought input from pertinent county governments.

As part of this update effort, Mayor Mike Moncrief appointed the Annexation Policy Advisory Committee on April 9 to further review the draft annexation policy and provide guidance to the City Council. This committee has held meetings over the last five weeks and is seeking citizen comments on the draft policy prior to presenting its recommendations to the City Council. The Committee is scheduled to present those recommendations to the City Council on Tuesday, June 8.
