Check Schedule Before Setting Bulk Trash at Curb
Wait! Before you put that old mattress, broken furniture or more brush at the curb, check the temporary brush and bulk trash pickup schedule that begins July 26.
The city is working to improve the way it picks up bulky trash and brush. The city no longer accepts call-in requests for brush and bulky trash pickup. While a new system is being finalized, residents must follow the temporary bulk trash and brush pickup schedule below.
Right now, crews are working area-by-area, to finish cleaning up debris from early June storms. After storm cleanup is finished in your area, do not set out additional bulk trash and brush until crews are scheduled to return to your area.
The following temporary brush and bulk trash pickup schedule is based on your regular garbage pickup day.
If your garbage day is:
Tuesday: Set out brush and bulk trash no later than 7 a.m. on July 26 and Aug. 30
Wednesday: Set out brush and bulk trash no later than 7 a.m. on Aug. 2 and Sept. 6
Thursday: Set out brush and bulk trash no later than 7 a.m. on Aug. 9 and Sept. 13
Friday: Set out brush and bulk trash no later than 7 a.m. on Aug. 16 and Sept. 20
Monday: Set out brush and bulk trash no later than 7 a.m. on Aug. 23 and Sept. 27
You may place materials at the front curb as early as 7 a.m. the Saturday before your pickup date.
As always, you must separate brush from bulk trash. For example, put limbs, tree trunks and wood fencing in one pile; put an old mattress and rug in > another pile. Brush and wood are taken to a facility to be chipped into mulch; other materials must be taken to a landfill. Do not place piles near parked cars, mailboxes or overhead utility wires that heavy equipment can damage. Crews cannot pick up plastic garbage bags, construction waste, hazardous chemicals such as paint and oil, tires, concrete, rocks and appliances that contain coolant, gasoline or oil. Call 817-392-EASY (3279) for information about how to dispose of these. Garbage bags must go in the brown cart.
Code enforcement officers will issue warnings to residents who don't set out materials properly. Warnings let residents know what's wrong and give them an opportunity to correct the problem and avoid a citation.
