Improved Brush, Bulky Services Begin in November
Get rid of brush weekly and discard bulky items monthly under a new pickup system that begins in November. You’ll receive detailed information soon on your front door and in the mail, but here are the basics:
Weekly Brush Pickup - Begins Nov. 1
· Cut small limbs to less than 8 feet long.
· Stack unbundled limbs on the curb by 7 a.m. on your weekly garbage pickup day.
· Clean brush pile only: no plastic bags, no trash, no nails
· Size limit: 10 cubic yards (a pile about 8 feet long, 6 feet wide and 6 feet tall or about the size of a Volkswagen Beetle car). If more than 10 cubic yards, you will be charged extra.
· At least 3 cubic yards will be picked up on your garbage day; if trucks are full or brush is heavy, remaining brush will be picked up within 72 hours.
This new service does not affect regular weekly garbage, recycling and yard trimmings pickups. Continue putting leaves and other small trimmings in paper yard bags. You also may bundle small limbs and tie with string or twine. There’s no limit on the number of paper bags and bundles you may put out on your regular garbage day. If you’ve purchased an optional green yard cart, the city will continue to empty it weekly at no extra charge.
Monthly Bulky Pickup - Begins November
· Pile bulky items on the curb according to the monthly schedule for your area (see map).
· Size limit: 10 cubic yards (a pile about 8 feet long, 6 feet wide and 6 feet tall or about the size of a Volkswagen Beetle car). If more than 10 cubic yards, you will be charged extra.
· Make sure bulky items are out by 7 a.m. Monday of your designated week; you may set them out as early as the Saturday before your designated week.
· Crews work each area Monday through Saturday. After crews pick up on your street, do not set out additional bulky items until the next month on your designated week.
The added services will require a rate increase to cover service and administrative costs. The increases will not appear on your water bill until later this year. For more information, call 817-392-EASY (3279).
